This Privacy Policy explains how Amrith Vengalath ("I", "me", "my") handles information when you visit vengalath.com (the "site"), read the blog, contact me, or engage me for software development or consulting services. I try to collect as little as possible, and this page tells you what that means in practice.

Information I collect#

Information you give me. When you email me or get in touch about an engagement, I receive your name, email address, and whatever you choose to put in your message. For a paid engagement I may also collect billing details and any information needed to deliver the work.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the site and its host (Cloudflare Pages) record standard technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site secure, diagnose problems, and understand general traffic patterns.

Cookies and similar technologies. The site itself uses minimal cookies, but third-party services described below (advertising and analytics) set their own cookies. See Cookies and your choices.

Advertising#

This site displays ads through Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites.

How I use information#

I use the information above to:

• operate, secure, and improve the site and blog;
• respond to your messages and provide the services you request;
• carry out and bill for engagements you enter into with me; and
• comply with legal obligations.

Payments#

If you engage me for paid work, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. Card and banking details are entered with that processor, not stored by me; I retain only the records needed for invoicing, tax, and accounting.

How information is shared#

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Information is shared only with:

• service providers that help run the site or an engagement (for example, hosting, advertising, analytics, and payment processing), limited to what they need; and
• authorities or third parties where I reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, property, or safety.

Cookies and your choices#

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking cookies may affect how ads are shown but will not stop you from reading the site. Use the opt-out links in the Advertising section to limit personalised ads specifically.

Data retention#

I keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required for legal, tax, and accounting reasons, and then delete it.

Your rights#

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information I hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
